Breath Alcohol Testing Operator Training
Course
Completion of this one day course will certify attendees to conduct a breath alcohol
test using the Alabama configured Draeger Alcotest 7110 MK-III. The course is comprised
of two portions; 1) a lecture discussing the theory of operation and the features
unique to the Alabama program, which concludes with a written proficiency examination
and 2) a practical laboratory exercise and examination which requires "hands-on"
operation of the instrument by trainees. Applicants must be an employee of a federal,
state, county or municipal law enforcement agency to be accepted into this training.
Annual Breath Alcohol Testing Operator
Recertification Course
In order for an operator to maintain an "active" operator status they must attend
a recertification course once a calendar year. This course is comprised of two portions;
1) a lecture discussing relevant legal issues surrounding breath alcohol testing
and a review of the theory of operation of the instrument, which concludes with
a written proficiency examination and 2) a practical laboratory exercise which requires
"hands-on" operation of the instrument by trainees. Only employees of federal, state,
county, or municipal law enforcement agencies who have previously completed the
Breath Alcohol Testing Operator Training Course and who have not missed two consecutive
years of recertification training will be accepted into this course.
